Scott Love has withdrawn from the 2018 race for Dakota County Commissioners, he said Tuesday. Love currently serves as the board chairperson.
“I feel like my services to the county are at its end,” he said. “I think I've done what I can.”
Love said that he is busy with his business, Love Brothers Truck and Trailer, and doesn't want half-heartedly run his business or serve as a commissioner.
“If I can't be 150 percent involved, I'm not there,” he said. “It's time for me to walk away. It's time for new blood.”
Love added that he might be interested in serving in another public office at some point.
Additional filings this week include James Gunsolley and Jeffrey Lantz for the South Sioux City City Council; Patricia Belt and Bill Shanks for the Emerson-Hubbard School Board; and Janet Gill and Troy Launsby, both Republican, for the Dakota County Commissioners.
