Pender Community Center needs stuff, and now there’s a way to go about giving.
That’s the simple way of putting it. A special “Giving Wall” has been set up in the south entrance of the facility to highlight needs of the center so that donors might have ideas to make donations.
Brandon Gutzmann of Sunrise Foods International, Inc., decided basketballs were one way his business could give back.
“As a business, we appreciated seeing the collaboration between the Pender Public Schools booster club and the Pender-Thurston Education & Community Foundation Fund to donate members to all Pender students. We just wanted to add an extra bonus so that students have nice equipment to use while in the facility,” Gutzmann said.
Andy Welsh helped with ordering the balls and customizing them.
Center board president Sonya Kelly encourages people to check out the needs highlighted on the wall.
“We are so thankful for the generosity of so many who have helped build the center, now there’s another way to show your support through helping purchase items to outfit the facility,” Kelly said.
