Pender State Bank is celebrating 125 years in business in 2015. As it turns out, come October, a historic change will be taking place outside of the building — even as the happenings on the inside are set to remain familiar.

The bank’s name will be changing. According to PSB president Mike Minert, several Nebraska banks owned by Frontier Holdings are set to merger later this year. The new name will be Frontier Bank.

Minert noted that there will be no ownership change, employees will remain the same, local decision-making will be as it has been and several areas like access to technology products and lending limits will be significantly enhanced.

In a letter sent out to current bank customers this week, Minert noted it is a positive development for the community and surrounding area.

“We are confident in our solid foundation to better serve you for the next 125 years,” Minert said.
